Now, now, you are just goading, benson. Having some fun, too, I see. You know, the reliably liberal posters on this site were pretty reflective and nuanced in their posts on this topic for the most part. Many said they didn’t think the award was justified, and those that supported the award largely thought the aspirational motive was worthwhile, notwithstanding the absence of a tangible lasting achievement. So I am not sure who you think you are sparring with on this.
I would love to see similarly nuanced reflection on the right, either among posters here or in politics generally. In general, I just don’t see it happening. It is easy for folks on either side to let their own sense of the correctness of their side blind them to their own rhetorical and strategic excesses while blasting those of the other side. My own take — biased of course, like everyone’s — is that liberals see conservatives playing harball gotcha over every single issue or news development, and there is a tendency to feel the need to do the same thing back or risk ceding ground. Unfortunately, we’ve ended up with a sour political discourse that leaves little room for meaningful engagement.
Was in the new GS building today. Maybe not much to look at on the outside, but all the good green stuff. Amazing green roof, recycled rainwater, condensate, etc., ice plant.
Are the milkshakes thick? I love a good milkshake that is so thick you damn near bust a vein in your forehead trying to drink it through the straw. No one seems to make it like that anymore. McDonald’s used to way back in the day.
