riff raff alert, DH is here and he opens with a “Howdy”. Would like to order up an identity verification – just doesn’t sound quite like the DH we know
OMG! i looked up recipes and decided squash and sweet potato soup would be good! and i read this in directions.
DIRECTIONS
Heat oil in a large saucepan or Dutch oven on medium heat. Add onion, garlic, ginger and red pepper flakes. Cook on low for 3-5 minutes, until tender and fragrant.
DUTCH OVEN!?! whaaaat? i did not know that was a REAL thing
I think McCain made his differences clear with President Obama on the subject of Iran during the debates.
Despite my differences with President Obama on domestic policies, I wish him goodluck on foreign policy. What disturbs me about his policy, however, is that he seems to believe that his considerable rhetorical skills and charm can always carry the day. When you are dealing with nuts who openly deny the Holocaust, who openly state that they want Israel wiped off the map, and who openly develop a nuclear capability so that they can enhance their terrorism-exporting capabilities (so that they can dominate the Mideast), we are dealing with people who have NO RESPECT for such skill sets. What they respect is the RAW display of POWER, in other words, FORCE and BALLS. In that department, I am sorry to say, President Obama is coming up way too short.
Folks who support President Obama can put their head in the sand, if they wish, and just file away the criticism as sniping from partisan hacks. That way lies the road to Jimmy Carterism. On the other hand, he can do what Bill Clinton did after his Presidency got off to a rough start: take a breather, take stock, rethink things through, prioritize, realize that getting things done takes more than a clever speech (it requires WORK) and ENGAGE with Congress (including your opponents). Recall that it was Bill Clinton working with a congress led by Newt Gingrich that got alot of good things done.
Finally, a small note: Bill Frist appeared on TV last night and said that he had been mis-quoted.
oh i wanted to say this before i forgot, brooklyngreene, i always enjoy your super long posts 🙂 you post a lot after everyone seems to have left for the day, but i go back and read sometimes the late posts and often enjoy yours!
“DUTCH OVEN!?! whaaaat? i did not know that was a REAL thing”
Rob, not only is it real, there’s even a TV show dedicated to it. “DUTCH OVEN COOKIN’ WITH CEE DUB”
The only reason I know this is because it’s often featured on The Soup.

Rob, That sounds easy as can be. Will you have a place to heat it at the office?
A dutch oven is just a big heavy pot with a lid. Sometime enameled.
