I haven’t eaten there but wouldn’t be surprised if Pete is right…I don’t believe it’s much of a restaurant destination. It’s much more about the vibe it offers for fun patio drinking.
Bxgrl- I was so sad when I heard about Patrick Swayze. I did a post about it on my blog. Which of course included my all time favorite Swayze performance. The Chippendales skit with Chris Farley from SNL-
“I can’t find their restaurant inspection report on the City’s page.”
Snappy, do you do this everytime you go out or was it Petebklyn’s rat comment that got you thinking? If you’re worried, there are plenty of food options along Smith to pick up some grub before or after – including a Dominos
🙂
I believe Trout and Pacifico are two separate joints, even though they are next to each other, so be sure to go to Pacifico…it’s clearly marked and hard to miss.
Pacifico I don’t think has changed names…all those places on that corner I think share 1 kitchen and all run by whats-his-face. Rats were issue with the outside patio —inside and kitchen are probably fine.(although the food is lousy)
i would not bet against finding a skinny 3 story frame house, tilted with no stoop in passable condition in that wide an area (presumably bounded by but not on 4th ave and the park). i’ve seen some crummy houses listed that i’d never consider buying but others might even consider not in need of a reno (and which i’d never bother to renovate either bc the bones are so awful anyway). and nothing against a nice frame house without a stoop. there are plenty that are great with front porch etc, esp in south slope. for instance, there is a street of decent/nice houses (11th or 10th between 3rd and 4th) that I think you will find in your price range already. but classic brownstone in heart of slope, it is not yet close.
point is there is a wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide variety of crap on the market that maybe you’re willing to live with that wouldn’t occur to me.
CG ups- wow. That is awful for you. Horrible position to be in. I finally found that the best way for me to deal with things like that- before I explode and savage the guy- is just to tell them I don’t like racist crap and I don’t like talking my politics in the workplace. Said very quietly (while rummaging through the knife drawer) 🙂
I actually love arguing politics- when it doesn’t descend into nastiness, as it so often does here- but with a boss there’s always this thing that they have the power to fire you and would they if you exercised your own freedom of speech?
If he’s really being a dick, place an anonymous call to an anti-discrimination organization and ask them what you can do and what your rights are. Probably none and nothing, but they may have some helpful advice.
Snappy, it is still there and by hard to miss, this is what I mean (don’t worry, it’s far less tacky once you get past the entrance):

Snappy, just bring Pia to keep the rats away.

“DH, doesn’t your pad have garden access?”
No – unfortunately. It does have a bitchin stoop and is a block and a half away from McCarren though.

Hmmm…no hits under 1963, lobster shack or 1842. Did they close down and we just don’t know it?
