Biff,
You are quite the active punster this morning. You smoked Cgar twice, and you were on quite a roll with the mummy jokes, though I’m glad you wrapped that up a while back. And I like the way you fin-essed the aquarium theme.
m4l — hope you are shorting today, given the Biff index.
P.S. I think Congressman Wilson owes Legion a coke.
DH – I went through that three years ago. In January 2007 I moved up to Connecticut and bought a beautiful 5000 sf old brick home on an acre and a half in a leafy suburb. Took a job as an in-house lawyer for an insurance company, working much fewer hours for pretty much the same pay. Bought a grill and some deck chairs and other trappings of suburban life. And within 7 short months we had sold the house and moved back to Park Slope and I took my old job back.
I’m still seriously considering a move to Vermont, but that’s more of a long-term project.
DH, you should seriously consider going to Asia. You have very transferrable skills and would do very well there. You’re also young and mobile enough and without too many attachments keeping you here, other than your immediate family of course. The current economy also might make it a smart move at this time. I have a number of friends who did the ex-pat thing in Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, etc. who loved it. I’m sure DIBS would concur.
(Of course, selfishly, it would also give me another friend there and a reason to go visit!)

It’s nice. Quite a small place but good eats and cheap.
Definitely not a destination place but good for grabbing something en-route elsewhere (especially as it’s right next to the subway entrance).
DH, Palmer will help on O but D has been the more persistent problem. Coach would’ve been fired if not for fact owner is cheap (ie doesn’t want to pay remaining yrs on contract plus hire another coach)
Benson – it’s more of just frustration with the cost of living in the city and salaries being stagnant. the other night, after a quick scan of jobs in my industry around the country – i noticed i could move somewhere where my salary would remain the same and i could decrease my housing costs significantly. of course, i have family here and other extraordinary circumstances that will make it hard to leave (plus, i like it here). but sometimes seeing what is out there makes you question whether NYC is the end all.

For the record, I can’t stand AI. I think it’s helping promote everything that sucks about the music industry these days.

Tsampa in the East Village also looks good.

Isn’t there also a good Tibetan or Nepalese place in the 50s, west of 8th Avenue? I’ll see if I can find the name.
Poor Al, he still seems to have the passion for the game, just running low on the gray matter. Wonder if his “handlers” are working towards an exit.
