  1. M4L, you were too general with the Biff derivative. You need one that more closely correlates specifically with my firm. In other words, as my posting on the blog increases, so does the positive performance of The Death Star. As I start focussing on work, you can be assured that The Death Star will begin to falter.

  2. lechacal, DH, I think I told you guys my whole “sell the house, leave the City, head for Vermont” tale. Made it as far as the Boston ‘burbs (renting only, thankfully) with the intention of heading to Burlington after a year. After 3 months (living on the edge of a nature preserve, mind you), I couldn’t wait to get back to Brooklyn, and I had to get my fix from Law & Order re-runs!

  3. I always planned to live in NYC for ten years and see where I was then (year 7 now). I have gotten the city bug pretty badly now, also lots of projects that keep me busy (granted not always totally fun but mostly they are). I’m from a small town so it’s new to me.

    lechacal, Vermont is very livable – Northern New England can really change your personality so watch out!

  4. “CGar, the only way I would be on AI is during the extra annoying shows at the start when they show the truly horrific singers”

    That’s just what I had in mind, Biff! ; )

  5. DH;

    I think we all go through that from time to time. The only way to figure it out is to try another locale. In my case, it was the Bay Area for a couple of years. I came back. In my case, the prospects for engineering are DECIDEDLY better outside of NYC. Virtually everyone I know from college lives in areas like NC, CA, and parts of NJ. I decided to come back, and knew the career hit I would be taking in doing so.

    Only you can figure it out for yourself. My only advice would be that if you decide to try out a different place,rent first.

  6. Yeah Biff – i’d love to go to asia, but it seems like something that would be easier to do getting transferred within a multi-national company rather than interviewing for jobs based over there. maybe i’m wrong though.

    Lech – that’s what i’m scared of, moving somewhere and hating it right off the bat.

    Just getting restless as i’m not really meeting the long-term goals i’ve set. although its through no fault of my own, sometimes you need to be more proactive than reactive.
