  1. A close friend of mine lived in Seattle for many years and I went to visit several times. It’s GORGEOUS. That said, it also has a very weird racial vibe, and the seamier side is really seamy — of the meth-head trailer trash variety — and those folks really scare me!

  2. Cool guys – thanks.

I remember in my younger years living in LA it seemed everyone was packing up and moving to Boise. From what I hear the LA gang problem of the mid-late 90s followed them there though.

  3. “DH, Denver, Austin or Portland.”

I agree with DeLepp here, having met you and spent time in those places. I could see you being happy for a bit there. Denver less than Austin or Portland.

  4. Snaps – Have you looked at the Gothic CabinetCraft-type ‘furniture in the raw’ places? My kitchen table is from one of those – 30 years ago. It’s square & small & was very reasonable.
Portland has the most wonderful Japanese garden/landscape area – really stunning – in a forest setting on a mountainside w/ little formal areas among the primeval.

  5. Text,

They ARE shady but it’s industry wide. You know how they all say they’ll beat any competitors price or give you 20% back?

Well, that’s because every mattress manuf. gives the same mattress a different name for each retailer. I learned that from someone who actually worked for a big mattress manuf.

So, The same exact Simmons mattress (just using Simmnons as an example) will be called the ‘Excelsior’ at 1-800-mattress, the ‘Highpoint’ at Sleepy’s, and the ‘Regal’ at Macys.

It’s so you can never compare apples to apples and they can keep the prices escalated.
