  1. “sure we need to tweek the system”

Tweak? just a tweak? legionlegionlegion. Where is your head man! We need some remodeling, not a ‘tweak’.

I can’t bear to even read your posts at times. So tell me, how are philanthropic organizations doing right now? Hmm. How many fired employees, shuttered their doors or cut back severely on giving? Sober up over there! The markets, the SEC, Government oversight, and the financial services companies need more than a ‘tweak’.

The Right column story in the Sunday NYT told me all I needed to know. http://tiny.cc/a6tQ6 The mere fact that financial services companies are even THINKING about making money off Life Insurance policies [on top of the money the Insurance companies are already making, but I digress…] shows that we are a greedy and cutthroat country. It’s despicable. I hope they do not succeed.

  2. petebklyn,

lol, you are right. I must be angry.
that’s why I keep laughing to keep from crying.lol.
    ha ha ha ha..coughhrurrrrrhhhrrrrhhhhh.

    cough.
    arrrhhhh……

  3. Yes legion, joe, daphne zeniga IS coming back. according the paper, the description of the tv premiere is that they find a floater in the complex’s pool!!! unfortunately some idiot at the washington post gave it away who it was and that really angered me.

    *rob*

  4. Your percentages are wrong. Its closer to 18% and the census bureau only counts those who are uninsured for a full year so when they took there count if you weren’t uninsured a full year at the time, you weren’t counted. No matter if you were uninsured then and possibly still uninsured now.

Frankly, if worrying about healthcare for everyone, education and any other quality of life over money issue makes me an “anti-capitalist”, fine with me. Compassion is priceless.

  5. OMG. From a book on soccer – we have to ban this from our schools:

    Attacking Principle
Penetration: Advancing the ball past opposing players by dribbling, passing and shooting.

The attacking principle of penetration ultimately leads us to achieving our attacking objective – SCORE!

  6. “When one party actively encourages disrespecting the President’s Office…”

“Truth be told, we did that to GWB. Often. And unashamedly. Just sayin….”

I dunno, snappy, I’ve thought and said some pretty nasty things about GWB over the course of his presidency. I think, however, that I would have stopped short of demanding that my daughter be allowed to skip school so as not to have to hear the president speak, no matter who was president. The political right is usually the “America, love it or leave it” crowd, which seems quite the opposite of wanting to prevent schoolkids from listening to the president.

Legion, I don’t want to get into a big argument about Bush v. Gore. There were many issues as to whether and how various aspects of the recount were to be done. Rightly or wrongly, a majority of 5 picked the method and parameters most likely to produce an eked out win for W in FL, which, of course, meant the entire election. The decision was completely devoid of generally applicable legal principle, which is why the majority itself wrote that the decision was to be of no precedential value.

Suffice to say, it was an extremely close election nationally and in Fl., and its outcome hinged on an after the fact determination of which rules to apply to the count. Even so, to close the circle on Snappy’s point, although liberals were prone to challenge and even ridicule W, I don’t think I know anyone who would have been afraid to let his/her child hear him speak. However he got there, he was president.
