  1. “Hey, Dirty – are you going to provide a review of the NIN concert? Or just the cab ride home?”
Haha – sorry I’m still recovering and letting it sink in.
It was really amazing. Currently, NIN are on their farewell tour, as Reznor has announced he will not be making anymore new music or touring. Rather then playing a show at MSG or a big venue, they are only playing shows at small venues. Last night was technically their last concert in NYC ever (they played at Bowery Ballroom and Webster Hall late last week and early this week – last night was the 2nd of 2 nights at Terminal 5)
Sooo – The space last night only has a 3k capacity so there really isn’t a bad viewing point in the place.
I eventually made it to front and center. The set list was great. They played about 35 songs – almost everything from ‘The Downward Spiral” (sans Ruiner and Closer) some old stuff off ‘Pretty Hate Machine’ (terrible lie, head like a hole, down in it) and stuff off the newer albums. The place was SUPER HOT! Everyone was pushing up against each other all sweaty. It was so hot Trent and the gang were throwing bottles of water into the crowd, and we were taking swigs and passing them back.
The crowd was pretty rough in the beginning, a few people got jacked up and had to be dragged out by security. By the middle we were all so tired that we calmed down a bit.
Peter Murphy (of the band Bauchus – the father of Goth) who is one of Trent’s biggest influences came out during the encore. He was suspended upside down from the ceiling like a bat, and sang the song Reptile with Trent .
So it was almost 3 hours straight of music. I’m not the biggest NIN fan – but that was definitely amongst the Top 5 shows I’ve been to.
