A friend of mine let a “friend” of his borrow some money (5K) and wrote out a check to his dad’s name with the word “Loan” in the memo. The verbal agreement was that after half a year the kid would pay him back. A year and a half later and not a penny from the kid and the kid has disappeared and doesn’t pick up the phone on my friend. My friend is taking his dad to small claims court (since the check was on his dad’s name) and the court is next month. W
Question 1. What are his chances of winning?
Question 2. What if the dad/kid still refuses to pay after the judge’s decision is granted? What are the following steps? Can he get a court order to garnish a percentage of salary every month until it’s paid?

Never lend money to a friend if you really need to have it returned.
The best you can do is get them to sign a Prommisory Note and that always becomes uncomfortable with a friend.

I’ve never had a cab driver argue about going to brooklyn. If he did I’d walk away and leave the door open.

WE…WE often get “No. Get out of my cab.”
They have no problem with Siamese cats. I’m not sure whether people from Myanmar feel the same way towards Burmese.
