I’m having trouble focusing on anything else. My heart broke a little bit at Kennedy’s passing just before this major health care bill he helped to craft, and a cause for which he battled fiercely throughout his career, comes for vote. (Reminds me a bit of the timing of Tim Russert’s death last year). The irony is painful.
But I do hope the loss of his vote, and the difficulty of his quick replacement, will push the Dems to make use of the budget reconciliation process to approve a bill with a simple majority – and that they use that margin to craft a stronger bill.
