I use one in my work and started messing around with it one day and it’s great in the kitchen. Measures the temperature of cast iron skillets, (I confess to using those, but not a whole cast iron stove), hot fat, bread dough, all kinds of things. Great for a homeowner as well, you can measure the heat in the pipes, rad temp, etc.
Later I found out that some chefs are using them .
