Gem – most painkillers are opiate based, so a person who uses them develops a strong physical dependence to them. When they stop taking them, they go thru withdrawl symptoms.
Flexeril is a wonderful back pain drug. When I was going through physical therapy for my back, flexeril made walking around more bearable. I don’t know why anyone would want to take it for fun though.
I honestly don’t get the thrill of pain killers. When I have to take them (and only do for severe pain that advil and tylenol won’t kill) I’m always nervous. They make me sleepy and grouchier than normal. I hate that. I guess different people react to them in different ways. I remember that darvoset and percocet used to make me see things in much brighter colors. I didn’t like that either. Maybe some people do.
um… well Biff, everyone who knows you’re going to be there?? 🙂 just kiddin’. I thought you were going to politely “pretend” you didn’t see that! but gee it sure sounds like it’d be an awful lot of fun…
on another note… general question for those of you who seem very well informed: where does “flexeril” fall in the desirable drug category?
ok this is a DUMB question:
why are pain killers so desired and so addictive?
what do they do exactly?
sure, if you have a bad back and you pop a painkiller, I assume the pain eases temporarily….
but why are soo many people addicted to them? are these people in that much physical pain that they need the drugs?

Snappy. there are a lot of things people do “for fun” that you and I and many others might not understand. 🙂
