bxgrl, I meant more that he belittles the idea that we can think for ourselves and have the ability to look out for our own interests. The “big” hand of govt gives many the willies. Interesting article last week on how France’s universal health care plan is having lots of trouble with providing servies.

DeLepp- I find that very true of people on the right as well. In fact it seems that everyone in this country and their goldfish belittle everyone else who doesn’t agree with them. It sucks actually.
Taro always has toro, and between Thurs-Sat usually several kinds of toro….
WonTon…my only complaint in Brooklyn is that a lot of places don’t stock Toro. I don’t eat sushi every week so when I do I want Toro or it just is second rate to me.
Dowd is entertaining but she’s far from a thinker, more of a equal opportunity snark. After having read many of Krugman’s books in grad school (where many of my professors were lefties) I can understand why many see him as a red communist. He seems to belittle that many americans can and will do what is best for themselves.
dibs, my fave sushi in my nabe is Taro Sushi on Dean St near Flatbush, which also has a support staff of Fukienese sushi chefs (under the supervision of the head guy, who’s from Tokyo). Go between Thursday and Saturday, when the boss is around, and order omakase or one of the specials. It is as good as any neighborhood joint in Tokyo, the real deal.
Seems like many of the sushi places in Brooklyn are manned by either Mexicans or Fujianese….
