  1. CGar…I have a very good idea for a gay dating/porn website. i will explain the business model to you tomorrow. It is based on ripping off a very profitable one but orienting it to a slightly different group. By my calculations, the existing one brings in between $2.0 MM and $5.0 MM

  2. Noki, I posted this in the Forum Thread, but in case you don’t go back there…

My response to your wondering if you can make it to Ellis:

“Noki, you have to show! You were designated honorary PLUSA status despite not posting pathetically copious amounts of comments. You’re not even close to the minimum requirements for ongoing membership.”

  3. Either I’m later than usual, or it’s shaping up to be a 500+ post day.

Etson, I’ve been considering alternative careers for years, but I haven’t yet figured out that “one thing” that I really want to do and that will really make me happy (due credit to Jack Palance in City Slickers). I’ve considered most everything people have suggested: B&B, teaching, retail . . . starting a porn website (looks like I might be able to sign up rob and DIBS). Meanwhile, I opted for a “small change”, as you put it, from private practice to in-house, and though I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up, the small change has made a huge difference. But, I’m still looking for that “one thing” . . .

  4. hey etson,

at various times in my life, feeling burned out or restless, I’ve:

taken on a huge reading load to rearrange my head
    gone to therapy
indulged in vices to take my mind off stuff
adopted a “I’ll give my job the second-best effort of the day” mindset
took a lot of time off
persisted in my rut until I got fired

Soe,times it’s a thing where you go away from it for a while, and you fall in love with things all over again. Other times it’s more you just have this nascent part of you doing something else, and that just takes you over bit by bit.

My advice if you’re really bummed: consulting OR going to school whilst working in a service job like bartending or waitering (interacting with and serving people at work makes me feel pretty fulfilled, believe it or not)

career change anyone? I remember those days oh so long ago. My usually days included getting to work at 9 a.m. working till 5 p.m, going to grad school from 5 – 9 p.m. then going back to work till 1 or 2 a.m. Rinse and repeat pretty much for about 3 years.

For the past 3 years it’s pretty much heaven on earth career wise.
