  1. “I also reflexively put bits of food in other people’s bowls”

WonTon, on the Arabian Peninsula that’s a sign of friendship and hospitality – the host picks out the best cuts of meat and gives them to the honored guests.

  2. Herk, BH and I are watching the past seasons of Dexter now. We’re just at the part where Lila goes to the cabin and meets Doakes! Cannot wait for the next disc to get here — we’re obsessed!

  3. I never liked Entourage. It took me a while to get into Curb – the season they did The Producers – and now I’m catching up on the early seasons. So far, I’m liking Nurse Jackie (Carmela Soprano goes to nursing school – what can be bad) and, surprise, surprise, Hung.

  4. “Do all you Chinamen tap the table when tea is poured for you??? I would hope so.

Also, what is your take on the original reason for that tapping???

As a child, I was told some tall story about a king in hiding, masquerading as a waiter to avoid detection. His subjects recognised him but didn’t want to give the game away to his enemies so they showed their respect by tapping the table.

Sounds pretty implausible to me but makes for a nice story.

  5. I can’t stand Entourage either (hey I might get into my first b’stoner cyber fight over this!!). My speed is more Nurse Jackie, though truthfully I’m not loving that show either. I also hate Weeds and Nancy Botwin who, by rights, should be my role model. When is the new season of Dexter? Now THERE’S a hunk o’ man!

  6. I naturally shovel rice with the bowl right at my lip, but only when I’m around Chinese…I guess that makes me repressed 🙂

I also reflexively put bits of food in other people’s bowls, which confuses my non-Chinese friends sometimes.
