hahaha – come down my hall and there are all sorts of music blasting from offices and cubicles
it’s actually kinda tough to hold a phone conversation some days
Biff and Snappy, I’ve also been listening to the same music for 30 years, but, to my surprise I’ve discovered some new music on iTunes that I really love – Coldplay, Matchbox Twenty, Plain White T’s.
I know how uptight it must sound but it’s just such terrible crap (a la Debbie Gibson) and no one else seems to mind! I feel like i’m in some sort of weird parallel universe where everything I thought I knew about manners and good taste is the exact opposite.
Michael Wong a good actor?! LOL. He is the king of the C movie in Hong Kong, and always laughingly bad. Plus his Cantonese is hysterical.
But people appreciate him because he works so hard (at any given time it seems like one of his movies is always playing on Hong Kong cable TV.) He’s also a very nice, humble guy. I have seen him a number of times around Hong Kong, just hanging out.
I think the reason why Chow Yun-fat and Gong Li never made it as crossover stars (while Joan Chen and Michelle Yeoh did) is all because of English. Yun-fat’s English just doesn’t cut it, and Gong Li is also not good. But Michelle is from Malaysia and she grew up speaking English.
Tony Leung Chiu Wai (from the Wong kar-wai films) speaks okay English, but i don’t think he’s interested in crossing over. I ran into Tony a few months ago while hiking on the Peak! He is all bulked up now with muscle for a new martial arts flick and I hardly recognized him.
dittoburg – where in bklyn can i get jumbo salted caper berries? i used to get them at dean & deluca back in the day. but they’re a fortune there. this time i had to use some from a jar.
You really shouldn’t play music unless you have a private office.

A workplace is not a workplace if someone is playing music in an office setting.

all of my coworkers play their headphones too loud. so at least 3x a day i get to hear the beyonce “single ladies” garbage all muffled.
