  1. Yeah, the whole name change is super lame. If you say you are taking your toys and going home never again to return, then do so. Changing your name and sneaking back in is just stupid. Sure, it’s a plus to be liked and have your comments appreciated on a blog, but you shouldn’t be chased out if it doesnt happen. What takes sh!t everyday and you don’t see him wussing out. He stands his ground and fires back with whatever he believes. Agree with him or not, it’s commendable.

  2. I never had any confrontations with 11217 but the way he’s looked and talked down to so many others here without any real provocation caused me not to care for him. He was a running advertisement for Park Slope. His elitist attitude didn’t exactly do him any favors in his quest either.

    You reap what you sow.

  3. “Rob, sometimes I feel that the PLUSAs are your Mom and Dad. It’s totally adorable. Everyone cares for you here so much. I mean it in a good way.”

Kens!!! Now he’s going to ask us all for an increase in his allowance and to borrow the car on weekends.

Seriously, I’m not sure about feeling like his parent, but I do think many of us feel like he’s our lovable and quirky little brother that we just wish good things for.

  4. M4L…I’ve been there so many times, I’m flat out sick of it. It’s hubby’s sister and we need to visit periodically. Hubby knows I’m miserable there so he now plans things for us to do. They have great hiking nearby and last time we went every morning and hopefully will do the same this time

If not I will come back to Brooklyn with out hubby.

  5. jester, i dont think anyone hates 11217 at all. it’s just that he throws stuff out there and then gets upset when people comment on his (sometimes) ridiculous comment. also the constant cheerleading for PS might rub people the wrong way, i dont know. i guess others can answer

    *rob*

  6. Infinitejester: Why am I annoyed by 11217? Here is my very first exchange with him regarding a HOTD in Greenwood Heights. I got the “how dare you not LOVE Park Slope” beat down:

ME: I live about 2 blocks down the street from here. For my one bedroom apartment, I pay $1050. I consider this a deal because I have been here for 9 years and my rent started at $800. Nice slow increase 🙂 I have heard that my rent is somewhat lower than others comparable in size around me, but I’m not sure if that’s 100% true. I love my apartment and this neighborhood BECAUSE it’s not really Park Slope (too many yuppies and crumbsnatchers for my taste). If you really want a deal on a building in this hood, keep an eye out for 635 Fifth Avenue. There was a serious fire there about a month and a half ago and the building has since been vacated per order of the City until the repairs are made. No work has been done to remediate the fire damage and the bakery on the street level hasn’t been able to reopen. (All gas, electricity and water have been shut down there) From what I hear, the owner of the building has been calling around to neighboring building owners trying to generate some interest for sale.

11217: I appreciate that you enjoy living here because it’s NOT Park Slope (I think this area is really great also), but I tend to not give too much credit to people who think that living in a neighborhood with children is an annoyance.

    That’s just me though.

People who are so closed-minded to not like neighborhoods because of children or “yuppies” are not really the kind of people I want to live around anyway. I’m glad I’m 25 blocks north of you where we have tons of kids, tons of gays, and tons of singles living side by side in harmony.
