Williamsburg
The big news this week is that J. Crew may move into 247 Bedford Avenue, right next to the Whole Foods (slated to open in 2014). The asking rents for the building, which currently houses The Bagel Store and Millenium Health, are between $185 and $200 per square foot. Elsewhere in Williamsburg, Lake Trout opened yesterday on Havemeyer Street, Modern Spaces opened its first Brooklyn office at 135 Kent Avenue, and Blue Collar, a small burger-and-dog shop, also opened up on Havemeyer.

Park Slope
Prospect Bar, a huge space on Fifth Avenue between 14th and 15th Streets, opened up last Thursday. El Pollo Chicken is done for good at its former 5th Avenue location. Redberi, the clothing store on Flatbush Avenue, shuttered. There are two other locations still open in Dumbo and Crown Heights. Premier Cafe opens on 5th Avenue and The Owl Farm Bar opened on 9th Street.

Prospect Heights
Calabar Imports, the African and Asian specialty store dislocated by the fire on Washington and St. Johns, is moving to Franklin Avenue and Park Place. Plan B is shuttered by the Health Department on Vanderbilt Ave. And the NY Times covers New York’s First Official Free Library.

Chef Elizabeth Falkner is making moves on her new pizza joint at 364 Atlantic Avenue, in Boerum Hill. A small plates restaurant (from the Alchemy restaurant owners in Park Slope) will open in Windsor Terrace in September.
