Today Racked breaks the very exciting news that upscale eyewear retailer Moscot is expanding from the LES to Brooklyn! The shop will open at 159 Court Street (next to Book Court) in time for the holidays. Score!
Coney Island
A few sad news items coming from Coney Island this week: the boardwalk clam bar Gyro Corner Clam Bar (pictured) which includes the clam bar “Hey Joey!,” closes November 4th. Says Amusing the Zillion: “Goodbye to the flashy front-of-the-show vernacular signage at Gyro Corner and Paul’s Daughter and Steve’s Grill House. The new Boardwalk storefronts will be branded with Luna Park’s trademark orange and blue colors.” Also, Ruby’s is getting evicted after an earlier battle to stay open. The last day will be Saturday October 29, 2012. Not far away in Sheepshead Bay, a new furniture shop opens on Avenue U and Butcher Boy Meats closes on Avenue Z.
Park Slope
Here’s Park Slope reports that Dive Bar fave Great Lakes is up for rent. The Ricky’s Halloween store returns to Bergen Street. Chiles and Chocolates closed on 7th Avenue and Giovanni’s Brooklyn Eats is opening on 8th. Finally, the Brooklyn Paper writes the the Slope Library will remain closed for renovations for another year. Boo!
Greenpoint/Williamsburg
Fork in the Road reports that Champs Bakery on Ainslie Street transformed itself into a vegan diner. Coming to the neighborhood, according to Here’s Williamsburg: Beautiful Dream, a boutique and art space. And the new boutique The One Well opens this Saturday in Greenpoint, says Here’s Greenpoint, and Lebanese restaurant Tent is open for biz at 57 Nassau Avenue.
