For one day this weekend, the Boerum Hill stretch of Atlantic Avenue will have a new look: Its usual antique shops will be joined by a pop-up apartment complex, furnishings and all.

As part of an exhibit called “Rooms of Boerum Hill,” the temporary apartments, set up along Atlantic Avenue between Hoyt and Bond streets, will show off furniture and home accessories from some of the avenue’s boutiques.

The display is part of Design Walk, a series of design-focused installations and workshops that’ll take over Atlantic Avenue from 3-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 7.

Hosted by the Atlantic Avenue Improvement District, the walk will also include a textile-dyeing demonstration, a hair-braiding bar and hair show, a whiskey-distilling presentation, a natural-materials sculpting opportunity for children, and a talk on beekeeping and green roofs.

For a full list of activities and to register see the event’s Eventbrite page. Design Walk is free and open to the public.

The walk is part of the larger citywide celebration of design, NYCxDESIGN, now in its fourth year. The design extravaganza lasts two weeks, from May 3-17.
