Neighborhoods Complaints

A non-service-animal pet was present in a Park Slope food shop on Tuesday, a Chinese takeout spot in Red Hook has received a C grade, and a homeless encampment was reported on Gates Avenue in Bushwick, according to a comprehensive new tool that lists subway changes, rat problems and water leaks.

Created by the City of New York and Vizalytics Technology, neighborhoods.nyc is a public mapping of 311 complaints.

Released this week, the website also includes everything from MTA service updates to a greenmarket lookup application and tenant harassment legal assistance resources.

Neighborhoods.nyc is part of a City-run initiative to encourage online civic engagement and economic development. Community groups and individual organizations can apply for the roughly 400 neighborhood .nyc domain names the City of New York has reserved.

Qualifying groups must be located within their desired domain’s neighborhood and be a registered public benefit or development corporation, or a nonprofit. More information and applications are available online.

Did someone bring their pet rat into the local Mexican place? Is the L train broken? Is someone illegally dumping trash on the corner? Call 311 and see if your complaint is worthy enough to appear online.
