This (and about 20 other NYC KFCs) were owned/operated by Paul & Joseph Panzarella and they declared bankruptcy. KFC has been marketing the location for sale, but my guess is that they could not find any buyers.
Since KFC has a lease running through 2020 with another 20 year option I am guessing that it is KFC (not the actual LL) that is marketing this site to other restauranteurs/franchisees – probably something in the Yum Brands – like Taco Bell coming
The actual LL is a corporation owned by Chandra Oppenheim (who gained some fame as an alternative music act in the early eighties as a little kid – and daughter of artist Dennis Oppenheim) and manged by her mother Phyliss Jalbert of Whitaker, Brooke & Harrison, Inc – a RE Co in Ft Greene
