An email sent out today by the new proprietor, Kenn Lowy, said the theater would continue to show independent films and add new programming like a silent movie night with live music once a month. There will also be a monthly photo exhibit in the lobby and an open mic night. Hopefully, some new seats will be part of the bargain too!

This is great news. Until now it felt like this shabby theater would always be just that. Glad someone with vision and energy has taken it over. Congrats Kenn!
i absolutely adore this theater…glad it’s still going!
Am I the only one who looks at this shabby theater and thinks of better ways to use the real estate?
Very good news. It’s been around so long, I was expecting the worst. Growing up it was “the theater” to go to in a world where cineplexes didn’t yet exist. It’s a neat little neighborhood spot, I wish the new owner well.
I’m a big fan of Kenn. Looking forward to going!
He (mr lowy) used to swim at my Y. Really excellent swimmer with a physique to match. Maybe he’ll put in a pool atop the theater.
good news
