New Chinese Take-Out for 4th Ave.
After experiencing rapid growth in 2007, restaurants at the North end of 4th Avenue have had a rough time of it. First the beloved Mule closed (and is still vacant), then Dean St. Grill and short-lived Mexican restaurant Bigotes. After experiencing rapid growth in 2007, restaurants at the North end of 4th Avenue have had a rough time of it. First the beloved Mule closed (and is still vacant), then Dean St. Grill and short-lived Mexican restaurant Bigotes. But business may be picking up again with the a new Chinese take-out restaurant nearing completion between Dean and Bergen Streets next door to the Salsa Salsa Dance Studio. Judging by the foot-traffic coming from the Atlantic station, this place could stand to do a swift business if the food is good. They estimate that they’ll be open in about a month. GMAP

Well, I don’t know where you live. But, I’m not Black, White, Hispanic OR a cabbie and I like Chinese take-out noodles. You sound like an ass.
Factual observation of the current Chinese take-outs near me. It’s not your yuppy white Sloper going in for $4 greasy noodles.
I hardly think BSD is being unpleasant or snobby. Far from it.

Chinese takeout doesnt appeal to me, but I’m sure I’m not their target clientele. Maybe more the cabbies and Black and Hispanic population there.
snobbery at it’s finest!
*rob*
BSD, your comment was idiotic to say the least. Anyone living in, or traveling through the North Slope, is this soon-to-be-restaurant’s “target audience.” What, you think take-out only appeals to “Blacks, Hispanics and cabbies?” This smacks of something totally distasteful.
I don’t think anyone said that “the idea” of Chinese here was new at a conceptual level. Just that this a new Chinese place. Hopefully a better one than the others in the area.
Anyway, it would be cool to see something done with the Mule space.
ick. I liked Mule. Chinese takeout doesnt appeal to me, but I’m sure I’m not their target clientele. Maybe more the cabbies and Black and Hispanic population there.
(I really am in a grumpy mood today, but here goes . . . ) Just what is it that is new about the idea of Chinese take-out at the way north end of 4th Ave? There’s been halal Chinese take-out there for decades.
I am coffeehouse-mad and I have to say, Mule wasn’t beloved by me. Not surprised at all when it closed. to further illustrate my point, that other deli place on Bergen and 4th has remained going strong doing a very similar line of trade as Mule formerly did.
