Construction is going on at 276 5th Avenue, between 1st and Garfield, and according to one worker the place is slated to become a sushi restaurant. There seem to be a lot of sushi restaurants popping up around Park Slope and Prospect Heights, so it’s either a good thing residents will have plenty of options to choose from or it will only be a matter of time before we see some closing soon. 1. Oh, a noodle shop. That’s a different story. Basically my spaghetti and meatballs idea.

But I still like the image in my head of folks standing on the sidewalk eating mounds of spaghetti and meatballs on big white plates.

  2. I am told it will be a Japanese noodle bar – soba and udon and what have you – not a sushi place. I got this information a couple weeks ago when I poked my head into the empty space and asked a man who was looking at plans – he said he is one of the proprietors.
So, since soba and udon are under-represented victuals in Park Slope, I am pretty enthusiastic about the place opening.
