Et tu, Brooklyn? [New Yorker]
I’m always astonished at how rare it is in NYC for a driver to be prosecuted for dangerous driving — even when it results in a death. And I’m constantly warning family and friends about opening car doors on the street side. I daresay half the drivers in the city are either uninsured or unlicensed but it’s still unconscionable.
Gotta say I hope the victim’s family go after her with everything they have.
last week a car drove into a building.
Yesterday Mm and I were waiting for the bus on Boerum Place. 2 cyclists at different times rode up the street, against the flow of traffic. Not even in the bike lane. One of them crossed over the lanes just as the light changed and traffic rushed towards her. Despite the plainly marked bike lanes.
Not only are Vito Lopez’s actions corrupt, but they are brazenly so. Sadly, he reasonably expects no accountability. I hope everyone in Joan Millman’s district votes in the primary against Lopez’s candidates for county committee.
DIBS;
For sure. Not surprised at the driver’s behavior. Typical union entitlement mentality.
benson, no doubt his union rep will get the record expunged.
On Labor Day I was riding in the bike lane on Jay St. I was passing a MTA bus that was at the curb to take on passengers. I was about 2/3rd’s down the length of the bus when he started to pull out, almost hitting me.
I caught up to the bus at the next light and said to the driver (in a civil yet upset tone): “Why don’t you follow the rules of the road?”. His response? “F%Yk You”, and then he pulled away.
I caught up to him again and told him that I was going to report him to the MTA, and in response he gave me the middle finger salute.
I did indeed report him to the MTA. They apologized and told me that the incident will go on his record. I hope that he was admonished, but am not holding my breath.
bikers in Soho? Was there a gang of them with picklehaube helmets, shades and long beards?
quote:
Call it unawareness if you will, I think it goes deeper than that – its selfishness, a “world revolves around me” attitude.
like 99 out the 100 bikers i almost get hit by on a daily basis in soho. i was even subjected to a nasally “watch where youre going a-hole!” the other day. b*tch please YOU watch where YOURE going.
