Walked down that block last night – boy oh boy Heather, it’s totally decimated. I also didn’t realize Capones closed and is now supposedly a gay bar (Sweetland?)
Didn’t see any squatter activity per se, but doesn’t mean they aren’t there.
North 9th street used to have a row of carriage houses with gardens. They’ve all been sold to developers and half-gutted. I assume that’s where the squatters are now. What’s funny is, ten years ago that was a pretty nice block. Industrial, sure, but the carriage houses were adorable and well-kept.
Read the curbed burg squatters post. i have honestly never noticed it but will definitely check it out on my walk home today.
