We’re off for the holiday today but this one couldn’t wait: Over the weekend a reader sent in a photo of the signage that just went up at the old Miracle Grill space at 504 3rd Street in Park Slope. As you may recall, there was some speculation last year that Chipotle would step into the breach when the upscale Mexican spot closed but that rumor was eventually debunked. A burger chain called Cheeburger Cheeburger appears to be the lucky winner. Hot or not?

Cobble, it’s really, REALLY good to read that you are happy with what you’re doing now. That’s the best news, making this an excellent time to grow out your hair.
rf, I’m going to start dying it again, but I want the color to be even. At the moment, the top grey gets tinted, and the bottom ends just keep getting darker. I don’t want to strip it, or over process it. When it’s grown out, I’ll tint the grey so it looks light brown, and blends a bit with my dark/not grey hair.
And yes, I agree, it could hurt me in the job market, but I’m happy enough with the work I’m building up now where my hair color doesn’t seem to matter.
CH – my mom did the same thing. She was the type of woman who got it colored every 6 weeks a nice auburn red and blown out every week at a fancy salon in LI. Then she decided to let it go gray – it took maybe 6-8 months and you are SO right, the girls at the fancy salon were totally against it and when she went back to get it styled and cut(with the now all gray – they were so annoyed) so she stopped going and now goes and gets it cut at a barber! – I have to admit she looks good with the gray – she has nice coloring so the gray doesn’t wash her out – I think a lot of women look great with gray hair!
Cobble – he took personal affront because you were cutting his income stream. The upkeep on dyed hair cost a pretty penny.
Cobble, I agree that the guy was completelly out of line. I think I might have mentioned a relationship between his lack of respect for your wishes and his tip. But I will say that if you go gray, it will make it a lot harder to get a job. Sad but true. (For what it’s worth, my hair is miraculously mostly not gray despite my age–no dye. So I have no idea what I would have done if I were graying in my 40s.)
you should have told the (probably homo) stylist to *f* off and gone somewhere else.

So, I’ve decided to stop dying my hair for awhile and let my grey grow out. (And yes, it’s kind of grey) But I did want to get it cut. I went to a local salon for a 3-4 inch trim, and this fellow that cut it took it as a personal affront that I wouldn’t color it. I just want to keep cutting off the dyed part and see what I/it really look/s like. Then I can decide what to do with it. This will take another 4-6 months, me thinks.
The thing that irritated me most, while I was defending my decision, was that the guy asked me what my husband would think!!! As if BH decides how my hair should look!! BAH!! What is this, 1952?? Do I need a note from him saying it’s ok not to dye it?? Should I be trying to look 30 when I’m pushing 50? GRRRRRRRR…..
I think that corner is cursed. Seems like there have been a dozen restaurants in the last 2 decades that opened and failed there.
That was a burger place when I first moved here – very nice in good weather sitting w/ drinks on the patio. Don’t know why that iteration failed. Will the new one have a liquor license?
