We’re off for the holiday today but this one couldn’t wait: Over the weekend a reader sent in a photo of the signage that just went up at the old Miracle Grill space at 504 3rd Street in Park Slope. As you may recall, there was some speculation last year that Chipotle would step into the breach when the upscale Mexican spot closed but that rumor was eventually debunked. A burger chain called Cheeburger Cheeburger appears to be the lucky winner. Hot or not?

  1. “Grey can look like highlights.”

That’s exactly what I’m aiming for, Arkady! I want to accept the grey, but tint it slightly, so I can go grey naturally later, and not have dark dark hair suddenly going white!!

  2. I’ve let my hair go grey ever since it started when I was about 35. Some people are totally white by that age. Grey can look like highlights. I tried a rinse once to see how I’d look & it was awful & I felt really self-conscious & fake.

  3. I didn’t watch the GG’s, I was watching Downton Abbey! It’s a HOOT! Maggie Smith is this great bitchy manipulative grandmother, and there are all sorts of upstairs/downstairs intrigues. Great soap opera! Prolly no one under 45 is watching it, though.

  4. Gem, Thanks! I tend to wear mine up, so it’s a little hard for anyone to really see what’s happening unless they’re really looking. It won’t be pretty, but it’ll get me where I wanna go in the end. : D

  5. CH – my mom was NOT happy while growing it out b/c she had two tone hair and it looked weird and she was constantly putting it in a messy weird ponytail – it was a rough ride for us all for 6 months – haaaaa – but now she looks great with it and she is saving SOOO much money and time frankly!
    good luck!

  6. “im a tad chary of charity actually. too much of the time it’s totally disingenuous and seems to benefit the giver in shady ways and hurts people who cant afford to be charitable.”

Rob, true charity is giving because you want to, to those who have less, or to a cause you believe in. It doesn’t matter how much you have, or don’t have. No one “can’t afford to be charitable”. Percentage-wise, the poor give more to charity than the rich. If the recipient of the charity misuses it, then that’s their bad karma, the giver has still done a good deed. The word “charity” has been corrupted over the years to mean far less than the original meaning. It’s not about huge corporate gifts, anymore than it only means dropping a few coins in a begger’s cup.

  7. Gem, Glad to hear someone else was able to fight the madness!! It is expensive, but I’m willing to do it if I LIKE it. I don’t like what’s happening now, so I’m letting it grow out. Logical, no??? : P (Apparently not to Mr. gay french hairdresser!)

  8. Rob, Likely right, but I was there, my hair was already washed, and I just needed a trim. And besides, you all know I wasn’t going to be intimidated into doing something I didn’t want to do, right!!??

BSM, Exactly!! But I was shocked that he went all “what will your husband think” on me!! WHATT!!!!

I came home and told BH, and he said “You do what you want, honey, I don’t care if your hair is grey”. (Now do you see why I love this man?!).
