Brown paper has gone up in the windows at Mexicali restaurant at 141 Court Street in Boerum Hill and their number is no longer in service.
“It’s across the street from Trader Joe’s and a way busy location that now feels like 86th Street and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan (and not in a good way),” emailed a reader who passed on the tip. “Maybe that’s the new location of J. Crew since the nearby fruit stand doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere,” he speculated, referring to Pacific Green at 151 Court Street.
The retail space at 141 Court Street is slightly less than 1,000 square feet, although there are two floors of residential space above it, according to PropertyShark. Splendid is across the street at 142 Court in a 1,100-square-foot space. When J. Crew signed a 10-year lease for 151 Court Street last year, it was for more than 5,700 square feet of space over three floors, including the cellar, The Real Deal reported at the time.

Pretty certain that Shelsky’s Smoked Fish (now on Smith St) is planning to move in here by June.
Thank you, penguinito. I gave him such a good set up, and all he could do was criticize my supposed lack of knowledge about Mexical’s special snowflake nachos.
Ugh yeah. The wait and the manhattan tourists have totally ruined the joint
Butthurt
I know, dave. Each chip at Mexicali was its own individual, miraculous creation. I was giving the reason why you won’t go to Henry Street Ale House for nachos.
Because the chips on the bottom of the pile have no toppings.

You two can’t seem to leave each other alone. Creepy.
