For those staying in Brooklyn over Memorial Day weekend, there will be more to enjoy then just the abundance of parking spots and the opening of city beaches. From annual traditions like Bay Ridge’s holiday parade to less patriotic events like Green-Wood Cemetery’s outdoor concert and a pop-up market at Bushwick’s House of Yes, here are three events to consider attending this sunny holiday weekend.

Bay Ridge Parade
Bay Ridge’s Kings County Memorial Day parade is one of the borough’s oldest and most iconic traditions, this year celebrating its 149th year. Sponsored by the United Military Veterans of Kings County, the parade is led by Catholic war veterans and will be followed by a 21-gun salute at the neighborhood’s Fort Hamilton Army Base.
The parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 30, at 3rd Avenue and 78th Street.

Green-Wood Cemetery Memorial Day Concert
The annual music event will this year feature the ISO Symphonic Band, a student orchestra led by founder and conductor Brian P. Worsdale. Local vendors will be selling food and drink, and attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on.
The event will take place from 2:30-5 p.m. on Monday, May 30, at Green-Wood Cemetery at 5th Avenue and 25th Street.

House of Yes Pop-up Market
Alternative Bushwick party and performance spot House of Yes is hosting a new, queer pop-up market called Question the Market. Independent designers will be selling treats and curiosities, and the event will also feature fortune tellers, DJs and performances. Brunch will be served and prices will vary from the cheap to luxury.
The market will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, and Sunday, May 29 at the House of Yes at 2 Wyckoff Avenue.
