The Open Space Alliance submitted a proposal to turn Union Avenue, which cuts through McCarren Park, into a pedestrian plaza. DNAinfo reports that this would add 34,000 extra square feet of green space to the park. The OSA submitted a request for a capital project this summer but hasn’t yet heard from the Department on Transportation. If the proposal is accepted, lots of community input will follow.
