The Brooklyn Paper reports that the City Council green-lighted the rezoning of a vacant lot in Williamsburg that will pave the way for the construction of two buildings set to include “the latest clubhouse of Manhattan tastemaker Taavo Somer, co-owner of the Lower East Side restaurant Freeman’s and West Village hangout The Rusty Knot.” The location in question, on Wythe near South 2nd Street, is where JellyNYC held a concert series last summer. The article says one building will have 59 market-rate rentals and the other will have 18 that are below-market rate. No details on when ground will be broken for the project.

i thought brooklyn WAS B&T crowd?
*rob*
Has anyone from Williamsburg actually been to Sea? Seems like nothing but a B&T crowd – probably the same people who park on Wythe and get their cars broken into. (Maybe that’s what happened to 11217!)
11217 – did Williamsburg run over your cat or something? You’re monomaniacal about dissing it.
DH, we’ve been over this… the internet forums have spoken and only one type of person lives in williamsburg today.
11217: N Brooklyn = *rob*: moonfaces
work to do – later buddy!!
You do know that Spice is owned by the same people as Sea, do you not?
But I guess Sea is so much more awesome because it’s in Williamsburg and has been anointed by the tastemakers.
11217 is right – maybe they can open Spice here instead, cuz club thai is so not meatpacking.
Very few new buildings go up in Park Slope. Thankfully. 98% of what I’ve seen in Williamsburg go up in the last 10 years is crap.
