It’s the economy, it’s rent, it’s tough times. GMAP

Snark, next genre is noodle places.
I guess Rachel’s is an option of they can pick up their game a bit from a taking orders over the phone and delivering withing a reasonable amount of time perspective.
That’s too bad… I mourn its passing. They used to have another location somewhere near 9th Street and 7th Ave which I used to frequent more. It was near the bookstore/junk shop/witch supply place. The taqueria was always a good spot to pick up supper after a bit of browsing for used books, crystals and rubber dinosaurs. They had really excellent tamales, at least they did at the time. They were really the first attempt in the area to make an authentic taqueria. Others have since opened but this place was a lifesaver back in the early 90s when your choices were either heavy tex-mex, northern Cal-styled brown rice burrito joints or Taco Hell.

Is there are bahn mi place this close to Flatbush on 7th ave?
Given the current trend, this will be another burger joint.
Unless it sits vacant long enough for the next trend to appear.
So guys, any bets on the next big food trend? What’s the next genre carpetbombing to grace the streets of our fair borough?
Bummer, liked the place and there are not really comparable competitors nearby in terms of quality.

I used to eat here every Friday night – taquitos olvera, sometimes beef, sometimes chicken, sometimes red beans, sometimes black.
You can’t be very loyal if a renovation drives you away – from what I saw it was couples sipping tequila. I never once ate at the sit down half.
The days of lines out the door had passed and I’d found places I preferred, but still, sad to see it go. Santa Fe Grill is a sit down place and right next door almost and isn’t bad when on 7th Ave.
