PLG micro-blogger Across the Park is as excited about local spot K-Dog and Dunebuggy as we are about Choice in Clinton Hill. Located on Lincoln Road, K-Dog’s culinary range is more limited, but appears to be filling the same desire for a friendly, neighborhoody spot. We’ve heard from a couple people already who are digging the Dog. Is everyone as positively disposed?

  1. I don’t find Vox Pop so fun to hang out in. Maybe its the bookshelves that could have someone standing over your table browsing… Maybe its the crazy ‘Bush Knew’ rhetoric of reading material and waitstaff.

I prefer a Naidres with more tables or a Tea Lounge with fewer hippies… Just kidding, hippies!

  2. Tillies – rude, obnoxious staff – you know the kind “I go to Pratt so I’m a higher life form although I currently make coffee and probably always will because my art sucks”…good coffee though…think obnoxious changes neighborhood more than coffee….anyway try Smooch 1-2 bloocks down DeKalb from Tilles on right – really nice people great coffee no attitude…best sign in Tillies is “Dont think about using our electrical outlets they are for staff only”…

  3. K-Dog is awesome and the PLG owners are a FA-BU! They are so upbeat, buy local, accept local bakers goods that aren’t marketed and support the PLG artist community. KILLER COFFEE AND MUFFINS. I love that they are open til 7 p.m. and have excellent sandwichs and soups.

  4. Just to clarify the location of K-Dog & Dunebuggy for anyone planning to come to the reception tomorrow evening, it’s 43 Lincoln Road, between Flatbush and Ocean Aves., about 100 feet east of the Lincoln Road exit of the Prospect Park stop on the Q and B trains. Note that you cannot drive on that block of Lincoln because the bridge over the subway track is being re-built, but there is pedestrian access. Parking is pretty easy on the side streets east of Flatbush Ave–i.e. Lincoln Road, Maple St., Midwood St. and so on.

  5. Choice is really amazing–the Upper East Side or Tribeca would kill for such an establishment.

One of the owners is an experienced baker/pastry chef and it shows. All of the baked items are really, really good. We also had some delicious entrees and sandwiches as well (our kitchen is being painted so I’ve gone there a lot!)

They have miserable counter help right now, and are running out of food faster than they can make it, but I’m sure they’ll work out these bugs in the coming weeks. They’re also open from 6 or 7 am to at least 9 pm; they’re working their tails off and the two French guys look ready to drop from exhaustion.

Definitely check it out–but not if you’re pressed for time. I will continue to cut them some slack on the service in the short run.
