The popular Atlantic Avenue restaurant Jolie is picking up stakes and moving to the corner of Smith and Douglass, according to a tipster, who says it will live on in the spot that was once home to Banania, Porchetta and, most recently, Carniceria. The très interesting news comes courtesy of a Boerum Hill broker not involved in the deal. Pardon Me for Asking recently noticed that permits were up in the windows of the Smith Street space, which has been vacant for a few years now. GMAP

  1. @mopar

I always go to Prime Meats around 6 and never had to wait for a table, even on Saturday. The food is great, I just wish it wasn’t 20 blocks away from me, but in good weather it’s a nice, healthy walk.

  2. I liked Banania too!! Otherwise havn’t found anything great on Smith St. Move to Williamsburg haha

Oh there are some restaurants I would like to try around Smoth & 9th such as Prime Meats but it’s impossible to get a table.

  3. I miss Banania too. They had great omelettes. Uncle Pho was a nice idea, but the food was terrible. Jolie was a disappointment from day 1, though it looked like a nice place for drinks and Atlantic Avenue is better off with it than without it.

  4. cornelius on vanderbilt has dollar oysters and is very good. but i think no steak tartare. i recall not liking jolie very much, either. plus the space was set up as to feel uncomfortably/awkwardly crowded even when it was not.
