Hey mister. Don’t look now, but there is a really ugly box on top of your house.
THere has been no recently calendared areas of Bed-Stuy, so this is definitely illegal if this block is indeed calendared. The LPC would never have approved this.
hate all of them
WBer….that’s EXACTLY how it looks. the photo is fine.
From the color to the widows, they’ve tried hard to make it as ugly as possible.
Calendaring also only applies to new work – if this was permitted before calendaring, it is grandfathered (amazing how many verbified nouns you can get into one sentence).
As for the addition, I’d have to say “not”. But I’d also say that a photo that shows 2/3 of the building and looks like it was shot from a moving cab with a 12-year-old cell phone camera isn’t helping anyone’s case (hot or not). How about a real photo with some context?
I’ve been watching this go up as well. I also took forever to be built. I really don’t like how it looks. It would be much better if the color matched the rest of the building – or at least wasn’t an ugly tan. Maybe it isn’t done yet and they will be adjusting the color, but I doubt it.
My understanding that there is a 40 day wait period with Landmarks for exterior work on a calendared building and that once that period passes and no one has objected, a project can go forward
The building was also “Calendared.” I thought changes of this order were still subject to LPC approval even if only calendared.
I’ve been watching this piece of shit get added on for the last year. WTF is it with not using a more complimentary brick color or just stucco it to match the brownstone???
This work was done by a local architect on Stuyvesant Ave, C-P design group.
