This Friday there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for Havemeyer Park and Brooklyn Bike Park, the interim uses for Two Trees’ Domino Sugar Factory Site E in Williamsburg. Over the past few months, Ride Brooklyn has transformed the 55,000-square-foot vacant lot on Kent Avenue between South 3rd and South 4th streets into a family-friendly bike course. The space also includes a community farm, bilingual reading room, community green space, space for local food vendors, and a variety of seasonal programming including kids days, yoga classes, and urban farming classes. The space will be open to the community until Two Trees begins construction on the massive residential project next year. UPDATE: The ribbon cutting event is for press only, and the park will be open to the public on Friday.
