Brooklyn communities are marking the first night of Hanukkah this weekend with menorah lightings, food and music.

The first night of Hanukkah on Sunday, December 18 brings the the grand lighting of the borough’s largest menorah in Grand Army Plaza as well as free celebrations around Brooklyn.

Park Slope Annual Menorah Lighting
J.J. Byrne Playground, 5th Avenue between 3rd and 4th streets
Sunday, December 18, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Chabad Park Slope along with Park Slope Fifth Avenue BID and Old Stone House are partnering to host the annual celebration with games, treats to eat and music to enjoy.

Sunday, December 18, 4 p.m.

Celebrate the first night of Hanukkah with a gathering in Grand Army Plaza and the lighting of the first candle on the largest menorah in Brooklyn. There will be live music, hot latkes and gifts for children. The festivities will continue each night of Hanukkah, until Sunday, December 25. Start times for each evening vary, so do check the schedule before heading out.

Sunday, December 18, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Join the Chabad of Clinton Hill and Pratt for sufganiyot, live music and family fun.

Chanukkah Celebration at Atlantic Terminal Mall
139 Flatbush Avenue, Fort Greene
Tuesday, December 20, 4 to 6 p.m.

While the menorah lighting will take place outdoors at 5:30 p.m., you can head indoors beforehand for crafts, donut decorating, latkes and music with the Chabad Jewish Center of Prospect Heights.

Windsor Terrace Community Chanukah Menorah Lighting
Corner of Prospect and 11th avenues, Windsor Terrace
Wednesday, December 21, 5 to 6 p.m.

Enjoy hot latkes, donuts, live music and other family-friendly fun with the Chabad of Windsor Terrace. The event, which includes a performance by Jumpin Joe Fire Show, is free, but registration is appreciated.
