The Green Giant of Baltic Street is filled… but under mysterious circumstance. In January we checked in on this building at Court and Baltic, which is something of a sore thumb with its glass facade and neon green trim. Seven months after being built, it’s now the home to… three bicycles? Yes, a ladder and three rather cumbersome looking bikes on display. With its twenty foot high ceilings and nonexistent privacy it doesn’t seem like a building much good for anything, but maybe a bike store will fit in fine. Anyone heard any more information?

agree that the space is nice. when (if) it finds the right tenant, it could be amazing.
I drove past this the other day. It looks kind of forlorn with the bikes but it’s not bad – a little spindly and flat, but could be marvelous with the right merchandising… The trim is not at all “neon.” Why call it “something of a sore thumb?”
What’s the rate for this place? That could be why it’s not renting, not the space itself (which, again, is awesome) Are they trying to get $90+ /sq ft? Then, no, very little could afford to be there… or want to be there.
The original permit was for a restaurant, I can’t remember when I looked in relation to September 2008 but I’m guessing that it was a build to suit type of deal and the landowner lost his operator…
Just a guess…
those look like the bikes that are usually parked in front of one of the local realtors on court, maybe vespa or vita realty? so maybe either the realtor figured empty space is a turnoff and put some of their stuff in their to make the space look more interesting.
i think it’s a cool space but don’t have any idea what would fit in, since it is fairly non-traditional in setup/layout.
I so truly want to open up a garden shop in this space. I am just imagining the large plants that could use up those windows.
Another lame, narcissistic attempt at “art”.
I think it’s an awesome space. Why is it a “sore thumb”?! It could be any type of retail, a gallery, a restaurant an exhibitionist sex room… etc etc etc.
(Don’t basically ALL apple stores have this aesthetic? They seem to be doing OK… no?)
