Fort Greene on Top in the Neighborhood Power Rankings

This morning The L Magazine released its annual neighborhood power rankings for our fair borough. The most livable ‘hood of the year? Fort Greene, with its train lines, park space, cultural institutions and restaurants. Clinton Hill was lumped in with Fort Greene as the more affordable option within walking distance of Fort Greene. Park Slope came second (“It’s easy to make fun of Park Slope — its yuppies, its strollers, its P.C. liberalism — but it’s just as easy to adore it”) and Prospect Heights came third. South Brooklyn, Greenpoint, Brooklyn Heights and Ditmas Park got shout-outs too. Gowanus finishes off the list at No. 13 because, despite the concert venues and artist culture, “it’s grim as hell on some blocks.” Each neighborhood was judged on access, affordability, green space, culture, food, nightlife and architecture. A few neighborhoods that didn’t make the cut but recieved honorable mentions were Sunset Park, “where hipsters and immigrants can coexist,” and Prospect Lefferts Gardens, “gentrifying hard or hardly gentrifying?”
