Thousands of New Yorkers marched across the Brooklyn Bridge from Foley Square in Manhattan to Cadman Plaza in Downtown Brooklyn Saturday to demand the reunification of families separated at the U.S. border and to protest the Trump administration’s policies on immigration.

Some estimates put the crowd at 25,000 to 30,000, despite temperatures in the 90s. Speakers at the rally at Cadman Plaza included the Rev. Al Sharpton, Padma Lakshmi, and U.S. Congresswomen Yvette Clarke and Nydia Velázquez.

The event was one of hundreds held across the country, as well as several internationally, including a march in front of the White House in D.C. The event was spearheaded by the action group Families Belong Together, and included hundreds of cosponsors, such as the organizers of the Women’s March, Move On and Indivisible.
