Earlier this week a reader sent in the photo above of the wine and spirits shop that’s opened in the ground floor of the Oro at 306 Gold. As it turns out, the shop has been open for more than a month and is called Wright & Goebel. Presumably the biz has been welcomed by some of the people who have moved into the new developments in the area. GMAP

  1. I created this account, just to ask one question: How did this blog become full of people whose sole purpose is to complain and critique everything? It is not humanly possible to have an informed opinion about everything.

Anyone who lives in this neighborhood has access to Fresh Direct, Seamless Web and there is a Brooklyn Fare in Downtown Brooklyn at Hoyt/Schermerhorn that just completed a major renovation doubling the size in anticipation of the changes going on in the neighborhood.

  2. I’m one of their best customers. 😉

But yea they’re awesome and the answer to my prayers being that I live here. I think if you join their email list you’ll be invited to their tastings which seem to be pretty cool. Last Friday they had a winemaker there from some winery in Spain.

Groceries, a minor detail, you have fresh direct and seamless web.

  3. Saw this the other day, and was shocked it can do enough business in that location. Then again, maybe the folks in the new towers drink a lot of wine — but they are the ONLY people who will be shopping there, as this is located completely far from any other foot traffic.

  4. It’s a good place, decent $16 bottle of rye and nice staff. They always seem to have a wine tasting going on too. Re: grocery Fresh Direct is great, and Brooklyn Fare is almost done expanding and has a good selection.

  5. Who needs groceries when you have alcohol? I say hooray for these wonderful people who brought wine to us! Needless to say I’ve been to the store & I’m happy. Staff is very nice & friendly not to mention they actually know about the products they sell, which is nice. They have a unique selection & reasonable prices. Definitely worth a visit & very convenient if you live in the area like I do. Cheers!

  6. A wine shop with a well curated selection like Wright & Goebel was sorely needed in this particular juncture in Brooklyn. Tastefully designed & well executed, its a welcome addition. Go in! It looks nicer on the inside (and warmer too).
