The Bed Stuy home featured in Spike Lee’s film Crooklyn recently debuted as a bed and breakfast, and the nonprofit Little Essentials is offering a chance to check it out at its Taste of Brooklyn fundraiser next month.

The community-based organization is looking for donations to benefit its workshops, skill-building classes and other programs helping and providing clothing, cribs and other baby necessities to Brooklyn families in need.

The fundraiser event, which will offer local, artisanal cuisine, wine and music, will take place from 7-10 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11 at Arlington Place Bed-Stuy & Breakfast at 7 Arlington Place. Tickets are $100 a head, and can be purchased online.

  1. Can a B&B host an event and charge money even if it is for a non-profit fund-raiser cause? I believe they have to have a permit. I can imagine that there have to be limits on the amount of people attending, for safety reasons. I don’t know how happy will I be if they host events in a brownstone next to mine.

    • Dear Isabel, I am the founder and President of Little Essentials. Our charity has helped over 17,000 Brooklyn babies and toddlers since 2011 thanks to the generosity of people like Liz Mandarano who graciously offered her new B&B space to us for free. I am thankful for her generosity, to all of the food and beverage vendors, and all of the volunteers who are donating their time and efforts so that all proceeds of this event go to Brooklyn children in need. We hope to see you there! Warmly, Sandie Trombert
