You’re all a bunch of ageists! Have some respect for your elders.
– when the police asked for your for your ID cuz you were drinking beer on your stoop, you gave them a rock.
*rob*
If you’re from the Heights you wouldn’t be bothered with lists like this.
The numbered streets part is true. who knew?
Hmm, you all somehow forgot….
– You listen to numerous negative posts from commenters from other parts of Brooklyn who suffer from Neighborhood Hypersensitivity Syndrome who would sell their mother to own a brownstone in Brooklyn Heights.
Haters!
BRG;
Are you from Brooklyn originally? I don’t think so, because if you were, you would know that the term “South Brooklyn” is applied to the neighborhoods of Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Red Hook and Gowanus. The reason for this quirk is that these areas were at the southern limits of the original city of Brooklyn, and the name stuck. To this day my father, who was born in Red Hook, refers to these areas as “South Brooklyn”.
The proper name for Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, etc. is southern Brooklyn.
Speaking of quirks, is anyone old enough to remember the 60’s sit-com “The Patty Duke Show”? One of the most incongruous aspects of this show was that it was supposed to be set in Brooklyn Heights, and indeed some outdoor shots were taken with the promenade/Manhattan skyline in the background. Patty’s house, however, was shown to be a ranch house in a typical suburban sub-division. It was weird.
PS: Sam, I meant that as a joke. You are a great poster.
– You need to remove your teeth before you take a nap during the day
– You never say Hi to anybody
– You go out for a walk with your nurse aide.
– You don’t believe there are numbered streets in Brooklyn
– You make fun of South Brooklyn and the wonderful people that are from there.

this made me cackle out loud.
