A reader pointed us to a very cool charity set-up by bartenders around NYC. From the Facebook page: “The Barman’s Fund is pretty damned simple: a bunch of bartenders take every penny they make on the first shift of the month and pool it, and then give it to various charities (Figuring that most community charities would much rather have 6 hrs of tips than 6 hrs of us washing dishes). We’ll let you know who’s doing their Night when, and ya’ll can come plant your tail on a barstool and do some Good yourselves.” Brooklyn bartenders that have participated so far are pouring drinks at Black Mountain Wine Bar, Washington Commons, Freddy’s and the Vanderbilt, to name a few. So far they have raised $6,141. Awesome!
