Closing Bell: Best Flea of the Year?

This could be the best Flea weekend of the year. Everyone’s back in town from the summer, we’re looking at two days of sunshine and we’re at 100% vendor capacity. Of special note, we’ll have a new Chelsea antiques vendor on the scene as well as a new seller of Danish modern housewares; for Brooklynites looking to keep it real, there’ll also be a new vendor selling photos on 1970s subway graffiti. For a more in-depth look at what’s new this weekend click here. If you’re going to be arriving on the early side at either market, check out this week’s Scavenger Hunt items in advance and maybe you can walk away with some free stuff. The Brooklyn Flea is held on Saturdays from 10 to 5 at the Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Fort Greene (176 Lafayette Avenue between Clermont and Vanderbilt Avenues; take the C or G trains to Clinton-Washington) and on Sundays from 11-6 in Dumbo underneath the Brooklyn Bridge at the corner of Water and New Dock Street. Map and directions here.
It was a pretty good flea market this week in Fort Greene. I didn’t buy anything (well, except for a coffee), but the vendor mix is actually shifted so I *could* find things to buy. I am pleased to see that it’s not just $40 silk screened t-shirts and other crazy priced stuff…. they’re there too, but other folks are in between.
Did somebody say “Danish modern?” Nice. Will have to check it out.
I’ll be there then.
