Earlier today we wrote on the future of the Fulton Mall and the completion of the $15 million streetscape improvement plan. Well, this weekend we noticed a whole bunch of benches along the mall almost ready to come out of their packaging. All the better to sit and listen to that non-stop Christmas music!

  1. I’m loving the improvements to Fulton Mall, which isn’t as bad as many make it out to be. I drove along Roosevelt Avenue in Queens yesterday. It makes Fulton Mall look like Madison Avenue.

  2. For better or worse, I think most of the people who read this blog require a far more pretentious and trendy retail atmosphere that what the Fulton Mall has traditionally represented. It’s always worked for me in some ways, and it makes me glad to see it is improving to this extent. Like Minard I’m happy to see public money spent in this fashion.

  3. i think race has a lot to do with what y’all discussing above frankly
    i find the stores useful
anyway, we are americans so we can shop and eat whenever and wherever we wish!
and I LOVE christmas music, so there!

  4. 11217 – undoubtedly you are correct that the negative sentiments expressed about the Fulton Mall have to do with it not serving the demographic most represented on this site. Nonetheless, I don’t follow your logic. The photos shown over the past few weeks show the result of huge infrastructure improvements, and not what it looked like before.

  5. Why is is that many frownstoners comment about how disgusting Fulton Mall is, and for the past 2 weeks Brownstoner has posted photos of it showing it to be what looks like the cleanest street in Brooklyn…?

Maybe some of the said frownstoners don’t like the people who shop there? Or is it that you just hate it that there are no stores which cater exactly to your every need and whim?

The median of Flatbush is looking really excellent. Brooklyn continues to grow, improve and evolve. Nice to see, especially in a time when so many other cities around the country are falling to sh*t.

  6. very good. this is an important thoroughfare and it deserves to get infrastructure improvements.
It is heartening to see public funds spent like this rather than in the more traditional pocket lining fashion.
