April Fool’s Day is still more than seven months away, but someone was having a little fun with the fountain in the middle of Grand Army Plaza today!

  1. What you don’t see in that picture is that there are a bunch of people in the fountain washing their clothes. It’s a new summer event sponsored by the city.

  2. I agree with altervoce. For years the fountain was not working, the statuary was crumbling and the park was a dirty mess. Finally the fountain was cleaned up and nicely resotred and today the fountain and the little green space in which it sites both live up to their intentions. That is, until some jackasses with nothing better to do decided they need to screw around with this incredibly cool fountain. It’s not funny or awesome, it’s f-ked up.

  3. Actually, dittoburg, the city (or its proxy: the Prospect Park Alliance) cleaned and re-built the fountain and entire plaza a few years back. Which brings me to my initial reaction when I saw the picture: what does all that soap or whatever do to the plumbing and pump and statuary? Maybe nothing; maybe not so good.
