On Thursday night there will be a town hall-style meeting on the future of Interfaith Hospital on Atlantic Avenue on the border of Bed Stuy and Crown Heights. In December the hospital announced that it planned to file for bankruptcy. According to The New York Times the hospital has a long history of financial trouble and has relied on state aid for its survival. The state had been pushing it to merge with Brooklyn Hospital before providing additional needed aid. According to the Times, the hospital, “is so poor that it cannot afford malpractice insurance. In August, hospital administrators said that it was running out of cash and that they feared they would soon be unable to meet its payroll.” At the meeting there will be an update on the status of this hospital and discussion of how it might be saved.
